New recipe!

I tried yet another new recipe this week and, without really knowing it, I'm also planning on cooking dinner every night this week! Cross two things off the list!

Dinner last night was called Easy Potato Soup and man was it easy! They aren't kidding! It came from my Fix it and Forget it cookbook, which is where most of my meals for this week, also all new, are coming from.
The results aren't exactly pretty, but it was good!
And, to go along with that, I made up a salad. Which is only really exciting because I used a wooden bowl and salad hands that were wedding gifts!

I managed to accomplish three things off my list in the past 2 weeks!
I tried a new recipe! This was called Buttermilk crusted chicken, and it was supposed to replace fried chicken. It was a Hungry Girl recipe. Though it wasn't nearly as amazing as fried chicken, it was very good and much healthier!

Geoff and I also went on our first cruise! We left out of Miami, visited Key West, Cozumel, Mexico, had a day on the boat and were back in Miami. It was a lot of fun and I definitely see more cruises in our future! First, I visited the Sam Adams brewery in Boston. It was awesome, and I think everyone who visits Boston should visit, whether they like beer or not!

Graduation!

I knew this was able to be crossed off my list as soon as I put it there, but it is officially done! I graduated on Sat., Dec. 12 with my masters of library and information studies!
This is a big accomplishment for me, especially because I think after this I'm about done with school. I am happy with my masters, so the next step is to get a job!

Wade Hall 19th Century Photographic Type Collection

Back in June I started working on this collection of photographs. Unlike the other collections I had worked on before, this was the first one I worked on all alone. At first the task seemed daunting. Unfortunately I don't have any pictures of the large numbers of boxes that were full of photos, but trust me when I say there were a lot. I kept trucking along, and processed more than 2,000 photos!
Last Friday I went through the last of the photos...cabinet cards. These are the most recent photos in the collection that are from the 19th century that we can easily date. Today I went through the last couple of boxes and filled two large boxes of photos that belong in the 20th century collection (yet to be processed).
Here are all the boxes of processed photos. I feel very accomplished and I know I will be able to finish those by the time I graduate and finish working there!

14 things!

Last night I cleaned out my closet and dresser a little was able to come up with 14 things that I could get rid of! I see more things being purged and donated in the near future, but it's a good start for now.
Of course this bag is still in my room, so the next goal will be to actually bring it to goodwill!

Update

  • I read Catching Fire, by Suzanne Collins (amazing, by the way), which makes 2/101 books.
  • I have NOT used reusable cups every time I went to Starbucks, so that's out. I'll have to try again in Nov. or Dec.
  • I got my cap and gown and verified my name for my diploma, so everything's still on track to graduate!
  • I sent 10 postcards through postcrossing!
  • I bought the 7th Harry Potter book's British version, just waiting for it to come in the mail.
  • The Harry Potter book is the only book I've bought new since the beginning of October.
I think I'm well underway!

Mission 101

This is my third time doing this, but I have never actually finished my list or gone all 1001 days without giving up. This time I'm determined NOT to give up.
My third list is very different from the other two because my life and goals have changed, slightly, but that's OK. That's life, right?

Here are the goals I am in the process of completing:
1. Graduate with my masters.
I will graduate on Dec. 12 as long as everything goes as planned!
7. Finish the Wade Hall 19th Century Photographic Type Collection
I'm not sure if this is going to happen. I am at least 3/4 of the way through it, and I'd hate to leave it unfinished. I'm going to do my best to complete it.
17. Own all Harry Potter books in hardcover (American), paperback (British) and audio (burned discs don’t count)
I now own them all in hardcover and only need to buy book 7 in paperback. I only have book 6 on audio though.
26. Lose 50 pounds
Working on it.
30. Read 101 books (1/101)
31. Keep track of books I read
The Sacrifice
38. Finish and frame my dragon cross stitch
39. Finish and frame Geoff's WoW cross stitch
40. Pay off my car completely (37/60)
41. Only use reusable cups when going to Starbucks for one month
So far so good in October 2009
42. Send 5 postcards through postcrossing. If feeling ambitious, send 10.
I've sent 5
51. Make a blog for this list
Done, right here
73. Inspire 5 people to start their own lists (2/5)
I got Denise and Lydia to do a list
81. Buy only used books for one year (gifts to me don't count)
I'm working on this now, Oct. 2009-Oct. 2010
100. Finish making this list
Done! Oct. 4, 2009
101. Go all 1001 days without giving up
